The Galleries in the Lamar Dodd School of Art are a great place to stop and take a break in the whirlwind pace of the beginning of classes this August. There is terrific student work up right now plus three new shows opening on Friday August 17th. Here's a rundown:
On View through August: 10th Annual Studio Foundations Exhibition in the Plaza and Suite Galleries. This show highlight work made by last year's Foundations students, including from assignments in Drawing I and II, Color and Composition, and 3D Design. On view through September 4.
On view starting this Friday, August 17th:
The Real-Fake: Simulation Technology After Photography is an international exhibition featuring four artists using 3D software to create post-photographic cinematography.
(Gallery 101)INSIDE OUTSIDE is an exhibition of figurative paintings by Holly Coulis and Karen Ann Myers whose work pops off the wall with dynamic patterns and unexpected compositions.
(Gallery 307)Ceramics Exit Show by Mary-Chrislyn Durham. Mary completed her Exit this summer and her work will be on display in the Bridge Gallery.
These last three have their opening receptions on Friday August 17 from 7-9 pm and the public is welcome. Plus, Attrition, a great installation from Interior Design professor Thom Houser just came down but we're working on a video of the show that will be available soon. As always, our motto: Get to the Dodd, see some art.
