Joy Pope

Communications and Content Manager

Joy Pope joins the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences as Communication and Content Manager. Most recently, she served as Grants Manager at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, where she led government, foundation, and corporate grant writing and management. Previously, she was Executive Director of the Decatur Book Festival, developing partnerships with local stakeholders and the regional and national literary community, including major New York–based publishing organizations such as PEN America and the National Book Foundation.

Joy holds a dual-genre MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from the St. John’s College Great Books Program, and a BA in English from the University of Oregon. A native of Georgia, she recently moved to Athens from Decatur and is excited about both her new home and her new role.
