Cinecittà 5 - Contemporary Italian Cinema

Beginning next week, Italian section of the department of Romance Languages presents its Italian movie night series, Cinecittà 5 - Contemporary Italian Cinema.

All movies are in Italian with English subtitles and suited for the general public.

Free admission.

1. Tuesday Feb. 26 at 7:00 pm in MLC 0148: La prima cosa bella / The First Beautiful Thing (2010), by Paolo Virzì. Comedy/Drama. 122 minutes.

    The film tells the story of an Italian family from the 1970s to the present day.

 

2. Tuesday Mar. 5 at 7:00 pm in MLC 0148: Terraferma (2011), by Emanuele Crialese. Drama. 88 minutes.

     A Sicilian family deals with the arrival of a group of immigrants on their island.

 

3. Tuesday March 19 at 7:00 pm at MLC 0148: Habemus Papam / We have a Pope (2011) by Nanni Moretti. Comedy/Drama.

    102 minutes.

    A story centered on the relationship between the newly elected Pope and his therapist.

 

4. Tuesday March 26 at 7:00 pm at MLC 0148: Benvenuti al nord / Welcome to the North (2012), by Luca Miniero. Comedy. 

    110 minutes.

    The film ridicules hatred and rivalries that exist between the North and the South of Italy, issues which have already been addressed in the previous film Benvenuti al sud / Welcome to the South.

That's the next four Tuesdays at the MLC, excepting Spring Break. Ultimo!
