Each summer, many students in the UGA Franklin College of Arts and Sciences extend their learning far beyond the classroom, immersing themselves in hands-on internships, domestic field studies across the country, and study abroad programs around the world. Students in the department of theatre and film have been engaging with leading artists, contributing to productions, as well as exploring the global landscape of theatre and film. From New York City to London, their successes exemplify Franklin’s dedication to experiential learning as part of our Academic Innovation Initiative, supporting the innovation, ambition, creativity, and curiosity of these emerging artists.

Highlights from this summer include a performance in “Seussical”; a six-week summer intensive in New York City; internships at Chickenshed Theatre and Prototype Content in London; and a study abroad experience that spanned over 20 live productions across England. Students also served as teaching artists; collaborated on new play development; and led original youth productions — showcasing their versatility and passion for the arts. These immersive experiences reflect the department's commitment to continuous artistic engagement, student successes, and professional development. For these students, the show never stops.
